The NEET PG exam is a competitive and extensive examination covering all subjects taught during MBBS. It has 300 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with a +4 mark for correct answers and -1 for incorrect answers, lasting 3.5 hours. To prepare, one should understand the syllabus and exam pattern, create a study plan, allocate specific hours for each subject daily, set realistic weekly goals, and include time for mock tests.
Use standard reference books such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, medicine, and Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine. Focus on high-yield topics, such as Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and PSM (Preventive and Social Medicine). Regularly revise by making concise notes, using flashcards for memorizing key concepts, and setting regular intervals for revision. Practice MCQs by solving as many MCQs as possible from question banks, previous years’ papers, and online platforms. Analyze performance in practice tests to identify weak areas and focus on improving them.
If needed, join a coaching class or stay updated with exam notifications by checking the official NBE website and other reliable sources. Maintain a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, regular exercise, and adequate sleep to avoid burnout. Practice time management during mock tests and develop strategies for quick and accurate answering.
Join study groups with fellow aspirants to discuss difficult topics, share study materials, and keep each other motivated. Utilize online resources, apps, and platforms that offer practice questions, video lectures, and interactive learning modules.
A sample study schedule includes morning: 2-3 hours studying a major subject, short break, MCQ practice, afternoon: 1-2 hours studying a minor subject, lunch break, 2 hours revising previously studied topics, evening: 1-2 hours studying another major subject, short break, MCQ practice, and relaxation time before bed. Following these tips and staying disciplined in preparation can significantly enhance your chances of performing well in the NEET PG exam.
